Abstract

ABSTRAK

Pada bulan Desember 2019, virus corona varian baru muncul di Wuhan, Cina, menyebabkan pneumonia dan penyakit pernapasan fatal yang sekarang dikenal sebagai Covid-19 disebabkan oleh Sars-CoV-2 dengan masa inkubasi rata-rata 5-6 hari dengan masa inkubasi terpanjang 14 hari. Penyakit ini utamanya menimbulkan gejala gangguan pernapasan akut disertai demam, batuk dan sesak napas, namun pada kasus berat dapat mengakibatkan gagal nafas, kegagalan organ multiple dan kematian. Nutrisi dianggap berperan penting dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi ini karena dianggap mampu memodulasi sistem imun, suatu pertahanan tubuh terhadap infeksi virus. Sehingga terapi nutrisi, baik pengaturan makro dan mikronutrien, potensial menjadi salah satu pilar dalam pencegahan dan pengobatan Covid-19.

ABSTRACT

In December 2019, a new variant of the coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, China, causing pneumonia and the fatal respiratory disease now known as Covid-19 caused by Sars-CoV-2 with an average incubation period of 5-6 days with the longest incubation period being 14 day. This disease mainly causes symptoms of acute respiratory distress accompanied by fever, cough and shortness of breath, but in severe cases can lead to respiratory failure, multiple organ failure and death. Nutrition is considered to play an important role in the prevention and control of this infection because its capability of modulating immune system, the body's defense against viral infections. So that nutritional therapy, both macro- and micronutrient regulation, has the potential to become one of the pillars in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19.
